Women's Bible Basics Classes

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."  Psalm 119:105

  • What are the Old and New Testament?
  • What does the Scripture say about Jesus?
  • How do I study my Bible?  Look up a Bible verse?
  • What does it mean to be a Christian?
  • What was the culture of the Bible times like? How does that help me understand the Bible?

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

"This came out of women wanting to learn the Bible; as we often do topical studies but many stated that they had never learned or understood the Bible as a whole.  Women expressed a desire to understand the connection between the Old and New Testament and how the stories all fit together.

"We have a family picture Bible that is really an adult book-- filled with history, geography and culture. It is NIV translation but has taken the stories and put them in sequence.  We are just starting to go through it, story by story with a plan to be done in March.  We have been having a wonderful time.  We welcome new members.

We aim to have a flexible curriculum to best serve the needs of our participants.  Newcomers always welcome.  Please call in advance to be provided with study notebook and handouts.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Two ways to serve MOPS (and therefore moms with young children):

Volunteer as a MOPPETS Worker:  Our childcare is currently maxed out, and some moms are on the waiting list.  Please consider volunteering one or two Tuesdays a month to our MOPPETS ministry.  The MOPPETS ministry contributes to meeting the needs of children as well as the needs of their moms.  MOPPETS quality care and biblical teaching impact the entire family.  Workers are committed to the importance of providing quality child care for the MOPS program.  They may be men, women or teenagers.  Whoever they are, workers should demonstrate a love for young children and an understanding of their eternal worth.  Common position responsibilities include:

  • Provide loving, safe, appropriate care for children
  • Following the church's established policies and procedures under the direction of the MOPPETS team leader
  • Attending MOPPETS meetings and training sessions as required

Particpate as a Mentor:  A MENTOR MOM is someone who walks a few steps ahead of us, with children beyond the Kindergarten age.  As a MOPS mentor, she brings perspective on mothering, womanhood and relationships--based on biblical principles and her own life experience.  Beng a cheerleader, a living testimony that it is going to be okay, she is able to mentor mothers of young children, not because she has all the answers, but because she has a relationship with Jesus Christ adn experienced many of the challenges these moms now face.  Offering encouragement and hope, a mentor seeks God by filling the role as friend and member of the MOPS group.
